A purpose-driven communications strategist, Kerry-Ann Hamilton has nearly two decades of experience in media relations, brand positioning, cause communications, crisis management and nonprofit engagement.She has partnered with local and global changemakers to build their communications capacity and tell stories that inspire action.
Kerry-Ann, principal counselor and founder of KAH Consulting Group, works alongside social impact organizations to effectively frame the challenge they are trying to solve, mobilize action and amplify their impact. She brings multi-sector experience from her work in international development, journalism, higher education and cause communications. Previously, Kerry-Ann was a Senior Vice President at GMMB, a pioneering advocacy and creative agency in Washington, D.C., and led external communications for The Omidyar Group.
She leverages her diverse background to provide strategic counsel on a range of issues related to education, global health and development, gender equality, economic inclusion, corporate citizenship and volunteerism. Kerry-Ann has led large and complex campaigns working closely with philanthropies, corporations, nonprofit leaders and community stakeholders.
Kerry-Ann earned her Ph.D. in global communications from Howard University, a Master’s degree from the School of International Service at American University and a certificate in higher education leadership from Harvard University. She is the immediate past Board Chair for Girls Inc. D.C. and a former member of the American University Alumni Board.
In July 2020, Kerry-Ann was named to the Washington Business Journal’s prestigious 40 Under 40 class, a recognition of leadership in business and meaningful community engagement. Notably, she won a Telly Award and received an Emmy nomination from the National Capital and Chesapeake Bay Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for “Katrina: A Break in the Storm,” a documentary filmed six months after the category 5 Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Gulf Coast.
